Former All-Star pitcher James Shields is selling his grand estate in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, for $6,495,000.
A Southern California native, Shields purchased the mansion in 2013 for $4,125,000.
The home sits on 2 acres in Fairbanks Ranch, a guard-gated community that’s “surrounded by beautiful lakes, walking trails, a world-class equestrian center, tennis, and golf close by,” according to the listing. The enclave lies about 20 miles north of downtown, where you’ll find Petco Park—the home of the San Diego Padres.
The single-story home tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac measures 10,616 square feet, with six bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms. The home’s “direct access to the equestrian center” might entice an equine-minded buyer.
The enormous open floor plan resembles a luxury hotel lobby, and the tile floors throughout most of the living spaces gleam. Dark wood accents give the living area a touch of old-school glamour.
The large kitchen is equipped with dual islands ideal for cooking and entertaining. Luxe amenities include a media room, gym, and entertaining space (with bar) currently configured with a pool table.
To take advantage of the natural beauty, there’s a California room with a barbecue station and plenty of space for guests to spread out and enjoy the lovely San Diego–area weather. In the backyard, there’s a large pool with waterfall, a large palapa for relaxing, and a swim-up bar.
The yard also offers a beach volleyball court complete with white sand. For storage, there’s a four-car garage and a separate RV garage.
Shields, 38, began his MLB career in 2006 with the Tampa Bay Rays, with whom he starred for seven seasons and made the All-Star squad in 2011. The lanky righty went on to pitch for the Kansas City Royals, San Diego Padres, and Chicago White Sox.
Brandon M. Montemayor with Re/Max of Santa Clarita has the listing.
