Washington Capitals right winger Ilya Kovalchuk has slashed $2 million from the price of his mansion in Alpine, NJ.

The enormous estate is now priced at $16 million, an 11% cut from its $18 million asking price of last year.

The high-scoring winger and his wife, the singer Nicole Andrazajtis, had the mansion custom-built while Kovalchuk was starring for the New Jersey Devils from 2010 to 2013.

According to the New York Post, the family bought the plot of land for $4.5 million in 2010 and began construction on the home.

However, the couple returned to Russia in 2013, after Kovalchuk retired from the NHL after 12 seasons. He went on to play five seasons in Russia’s pro hockey league, and eventually re-emerged stateside with the Los Angeles Kings in 2018.

Whether he decides to resume his NHL career post-pandemic or head back to Russia, Kovalchuk has little use for a grand mansion in one of New Jersey’s ritziest enclaves.

As a result, the family is ready to make a deal on the 22,000-square-foot New Jersey mansion. It’s a Colonial-style home that features eight bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and every upgrade imaginable.

Last year’s listing details touted the home’s over-the-top amenities. They include a banquet-sized dining room, a lounge in the finished basement, a plunge pool, massage room, workout room, arts and crafts studio, and a one-bedroom guest suite.

Outside, the mansion is ringed by lush, landscaped gardens and features an outdoor kitchen, bar, and areas for entertaining.

The Kovalchuk family is currently waiting for the NHL season to resume.

During recent stay-at-home orders, they shared a Instagram video showing the growing brood, happy, healthy, and riding out shelter-in-place orders like every other family in the United States. With plenty of goofy hijinks.

Now it’s time for the nomadic crew to get this exquisite Alpine property off their books. A deep-pocketed buyer could score this gorgeous estate for a serious discount.

Kovalchuk, 37, made his NHL debut with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2001 at the age of 18. He’s scored 443 goals and assisted on 433 in the course of his NHL career.
