The man who lives by the motto “Reality is overrated” is about to see how reality fares with real estate.
Former NFL linebacker Kevin Hardy has put his colossal estate in Jacksonville, FL, on the market. He’s selling his massive, 10,282-square-foot mansion for $3,175,000.
For that price, a buyer will acquire seven bedrooms, 8.5 baths, batting cages, a putting green, home theater, and an “entertainment wing” complete with regulation size pool table and a full bar. There’s also a 120-foot pool flowing through the center courtyard of the home.
Located near the Intracoastal waterway in the Queens Harbour community, there’s a dock out back and 300 feet of water frontage.
There’s even a full guesthouse with bedroom, bathroom, living area, and kitchenette. The listing is held by CC Underwood of Keller Williams Jacksonville.
In the 1996 NFL Draft, Hardy was selected second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and immediately signed a six-year, $14.8-million contract. He made the NFL’s All-Rookie Team in his debut season and remained with the Jaguars until 2002, when he signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He had a brief stop with the Cincinnati Bengals before retiring.
Hardy settled back in Jacksonville, opening two nightclubs that only recently closed their doors.
As he explained in a 2018 interview for the Jaguars official site, “I had two nightclubs in Miami [Dream and Ivy]. I decided to shut those down and walk away from them. I was in the nightclub business longer than I was in the NFL. It’s a tough business, and I got lucky, because I had some solid people working for me. Now I’m taking time to relax and coaching with [former Jaguars quarterback] Mark [Brunell] over at Episcopal High School. My oldest son is in 10th grade. That’s all I’m doing. I’m coaching the boys and getting them going.”
Born in Evansville, IN, Hardy made a name for himself as an outstanding high school football player with William Henry Harrison High School. In addition to football, he played basketball, ran track, and was a cum laude honor student. He played for the Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in college.
