James Biden, brother of former Vice President Joe Biden, has placed his Merion Station, PA, home on the market. He and wife Sara Jones Biden are asking $1.95 million for the Mediterranean-style villa.

Built in 1940, the property was purchased by the Bidens for $649,000 in 1997. The 1.74-acre property includes a main house, a separate cottage, landscaping, and a heated pool.

The 6,376 square feet of living space includes seven beds and 5.5 baths. It allows for “comfortable family living as well as grand-scale entertaining,” according to the listing.

The dramatic foyer features an inlaid marble floor and opens to a brick terrace. French doors from the hallway flow into a spacious formal living room with a gas fireplace and custom built-ins. An adjoining study includes tile floors and five sets of French doors. The formal dining room opens to a terrace.

Friends and family can cook and caucus over the granite-topped island in the kitchen. Adjoining the kitchen is a cozy family room, which leads to a sunroom. The second floor features the master suite with a covered deck, dual baths, and a dressing room with built-in closets.

The third floor features another bedroom suite, along with three more bedrooms, a large bath, and a kitchenette.

The home’s lower level comes with a fireside sitting area, billiard area, wet bar, and home theater, as well as a guest bedroom and bath. A detached garage includes a second-floor guest suite.

In 2016, James and Sara Biden placed their Florida island vacation home on the market for $5.9 million.

While James’ business dealings haven’t been widely covered, Joe’s son Hunter Biden has come under fire for serving on the board of the Ukrainian company Burisma while his father was vice president and oversaw foreign policy for the country. President Donald Trump’s alleged attempt to pressure the Ukrainian government to look into the Bidens has led to an impeachment inquiry of the president.

James Biden has also been the subject of recent unflattering headlines. A lawsuit alleges that James told health care executives that the former vice president’s cancer initiative would promote their business. James denies the claim, and the Biden Cancer Initiative has since shut down.

As for Joe, the 2020 presidential hopeful told Politico that if he were elected president, there would be an “absolute wall” between his relatives’ business dealings and his administration.
